AI Reshapes the Industry Landscape Driven by New Quality Productive Forces
Han Lijuan, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the China Association of Productivity Promotion Centers, mentioned in her address that the close integration of AI and the automotive industry has become an important force in promoting industry transformation and upgrading. Developing new quality productive forces is an inherent requirement and an important pickup point for the high-quality development of the automotive industry in the new era. She summarized the directions for the high-quality development of the automotive industry in the new era: The first is driving revolutionary technological breakthroughs and fostering long-term leading advantages, the second is improving the resilience of industry and supply chains to ensure safe and stable development, and the third is accelerating interdisciplinary integration and development, and giving rise to new industries, new models and new driving forces.
Tan Jianrong delivered the keynote speech titled “Embracing AI for Innovative Product Designs”. He mentioned that new-generation information technologies such as the IoT, augmented reality, cloud computing, and deep learning are changing product design, manufacturing, use and maintenance in the automotive industry profoundly, and promoting the comprehensive digital intelligence transformation of the industry. He emphasized that the three disruptive technologies of big data, large models, and high computing power are converging, and knowledge mining by data, design empowerment by knowledge, and manufacturing led by design can be achieved by building industry big data and large model centers. Currently, the automotive industry is taking on important trends such as being electric, lightweight, intelligent, networked and green. Digital and intelligent technologies have been fully integrated into the full lifecycle of product design, process planning, manufacturing management, service operation and maintenance, and even recycling. Digital technology is a new quality productive force for Chinese manufacturing, design is the only way to build Chinese manufacturing brands, and innovative design is a core competency of Chinese manufacturers.
Xu Changming interpreted development trends of the automotive industry during the 15th Five-Year Plan period in depth. He pointed out that China’s automotive industry is undergoing three major structural changes: The ratio of ICE vehicles to EVs will reach 3:7, where the electrification trend is irreversible, and NEVs and ICE vehicles are coexistent and integrated; the ratio of joint venture brands to domestic brands is 3:7, where domestic brands are seizing new opportunities of electrification and intelligence to achieve rapid growth, while there are still opportunities for foreign brands in the future; Chinese brands are expanding constantly in overseas markets through persistent efforts, and emerging markets become an important growth pole. He stressed that rapid electrification will necessitate the rapid development of digital and intelligent capabilities of enterprises, and the development of domestic brands on a larger scale relies on the improvement of enterprise management level, and requires the whole industry chain to be digital and intelligent directly; during the globalization of Chinese automotive brands, especially intelligent EV brands, how to manage and compliantly use data is the key.
